Was photographed by Jeff Bridges during this past NYFW and I made the cut for his “portfolio review” on Complex magazine website. I’m pretty honored, there is quite the array of fashion editors and icons listed in that review.
Thanks Jeff Kieslich of The Midwestyle for pointing it out!
just posted this on my personal blog— see below.
Had to create a mood board for a theoretical fashion collection that I would design for one of my classes last semester.
I was really inspired by my trip to the Southeast Asian country of Cambodia this past summer and chose to use traditional silk textiles and colors that could be found there.
I did some research and found some stunning vintage photos. Tossed in some of my photography of the iconic Bayon Temples, over grown trees that are also found in Angelina Jolie’s film Tomb Raider, and gorgeous rice paddies. As far as clothing, lucky for me Proenza Schouler’s F/W ‘11 collection was spot on with my theme.
Oh, and I even tossed in a picture of my parents wedding, botton middle.
Enjoy!
Hello Natalie!
That’s so exciting that you are contemplating an internship with wanderlust. My sister and I interned for them - 2 1/2 months last summer and had a really great (yet difficult) summer.
An honest reflection would say that it was definitely worth it for the cultural experience, but not so much for the resume experience. If you are interested in a small business or different cultures, this might be a really great thing for you. Personally, as a fashion student in New York, it didn’t do much to further my career than show me how difficult small business are. I had a girl overseeing me, but she didn’t know much more about fashion than I did. If Andrew were to oversee you, you might learn a lot, but I didn’t interact with him a ton. If you are a self motivator this would be really good for you.
I will say that it was such an adventure living in a small dusty town where everything is accessible by bike. That is probably what was worth it for me. My favorite memories was of biking home to our backpacker hostel in complete darkness, down a dusty dirt road and just totally looking up at the stars. (I’m a city girl, so that’s a big deal.)
Was it worth it? Yes.
Would I do it again? Yes.
Hope that helps!
